In 2007, the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 1978, the band's self-titled first album debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard pop music charts and sold over 10 million copies in the United States. By 1982, the band had released four additional albums, all of which had received multi-platinum certification. Van Halen had become one of the most popular rock bands in the early 1980s. The album 1984 was a huge success, with 10 million copies sold in the United States and four hit singles. The first song, Jump, was the band's only number one record in the United States.
